'The Duel Lost' Oil on Canvas

A stunning oil on canvas. In a later frame and with restorations this is a striking oil painting showing the scene following a duel. Signed in the lower right 'PIKE' and dated 91. Duels were practiced throughout Western societies from the 15th to 20th centuries and usually to settle an matter of honour. This oil on canvas is of wonderful quality and vibrant in its colour. It would look fabulous in a range of settings and would certainly be a talking point. The dress in the image in 18th century.
