18th Century Signed Portrait in Gilt Frame

Sold
A very attractive, well painted portrait of Eyre Massey, 1st Baron Clarina. Painted around 1790 and in very good condition. This portrait is of an excellent size and the canvas is free of rips or marks. The gilt frame has some losses as can be seen in photographs, but the overall look is still superb. Signed in the bottom left corner by John Burton. Eyre Massey, 1st Baron Clarina (24 May 1719 – 17 May 1804), was an Anglo-Irish British army officer of the 18th century, known primarily for his successful action at La Belle-Famille during the French and Indian War. In 1800, he was made Baron Clarina in the Peerage of Ireland.
